"...he sure sold me on internet marketing."
by Len Richardson, Publisher of Trade Winds Marketing Newsletter

I was sitting in my office one day at a
manufactured housing retail model center. I sold
manufactured housing at the time. When in walked
this young man who said he was looking for a home.

"Great! Let's go look." We looked at all 14 of the
homes that we had on display and headed back to
the office to talk further.

He loved the most expensive house on the lot. No
surprise, everybody does. It's a $120,000 modular
home with all the bells and whistles.

Back in the office I began to qualify him for how
much house he could afford. So I ask him where he
worked. He said he didn't have a job that he was
on disability. I'm thinking, "This is just great."
You have to be polite in the sales business and
the kid was very nice so I didn't boot him out of
my office on his ear but I felt like it.

After looking at his debt to income ratio it was
obvious to me, and I hoped to him, that he could
hardly afford to buy a Coke much less a house.

He ask if I could look at his credit for him, it
was awful. I spent a good amount of time
explaining why the bank wasn't going to lend him
any money for a house.

He ask me if I'd help him get his credit
straighten out. I said "I'd be glad to." I told
him all he needed to do was to pay about $18,000
in past due bills and I could get him financed if
he only had the income to support the payment.

He told me to make him a list of the creditors he
owed with the addresses to mail the payments to
and he'd take care of it.

Surprised, I ask if he had that kind of money set
back. He said "most of it" and "I'll get the rest
by the end of the month." "What happens at the end
of the month?" I ask.

Get This! He said he had an internet business and
he would be receiving a large check at the end of
the month. "How Much?" I ask. He answered "between
$5500 - $6000." I like to fell out of my chair!

"How long did it take you to make that much on the
internet?" I ask. His answer, Get This Again! "One
month."

Now I should have been thinking about selling a
house but I wasn't. How in the world is this 22
year old kid making that much money on the
internet was all I wanted to know.

He said his disability had forced him to look for
another way to earn some income. Both of his
kidneys failed due to some rare hereditary
disease. He's on dialysis at least 4 days a week,
6 hours a day.

His sister bought him a laptop while he was in the
hospital at the first onset of his kidney failure.
Knowing he wasn't going to be able to hold a job
any longer he started exploring income
opportunities on the net. When he first got sick
he was in the hospital for 4 months. He had the
time to do his research but he knew nothing about
internet marketing at this time.

He met a guy online and told him his unfortunate
story. This guy happened to be disabled himself
and also happened to be an internet marketing
"guru". This guy flew in to meet him, since my new
friend was unable to travel at the time, and a
partnership was born. In six months time he said
he was making around $3000 a month. At last check
he's now making between $9000 - $10,000 a month.

I still haven't sold this guy a house but he sure
sold me on internet marketing. I still believe
that whether or not I ever sell him a house, that
was possibly the best "up" I've ever had!
